Developed in 1737 in a total of 5 years by Meissen master modeler Johann Joachim Kaendler with more than 2,200 porcelain pieces and for more than 100 people, the swan service still combines traditional craftsmanship with a unique service from the court of August III. - a fascination that continues till this day. The "Serving Dish" made of white Meissen porcelain with a layer of 16 cm is part of the almost 300-year-old service. Kaendler relies on drawings and engravings from graphic collections in the nearby capital Dresden for the eponymous relief of a pair of swan floating through reeds. The "Serving Dish" also succumbs to the maritime theme of the swan service through its shell shape.
