As the oldest porcelain manufactory in Europe, founded in 1710 by King Augustus the Strong, the dinner services, sculptures and objects created in Meissen have been pioneering from the very beginning. The Manufacture's worldwide renown is rooted in craftsmanship expertise and centuries of artistic tradition, from the Meissen Baroque period, which laid the foundations for the design language of European porcelain, the iconic floral painting and the "onion pattern", to the new animal sculptures of the 1920s.
