The company Sklo Šafránek was founded in 1990, shortly after the fall of the totalitarian communist regime. Its founder, Mr. Jiří Šafránek, thus fulfilled his lifelong dream and continued the family tradition in the field of glass cutting, which was started in the 1920s by his uncle and also his teacher, Mr. František Šafránek. Since he spent his entire productive life in the glass industry, whether as a glass cutter, as a production manager at the national company Železný Brod Glass, or finally as a glass technologist at the famous Secondary School of Glassmaking in Železný Brod, he gathered a great deal of skill, knowledge and experience that he could apply in his company. He bought and revived a long defunct cutting shop located in the woods near Železný Brod, where he himself cut glass in the 1950s, and in his retirement age he started the production of luxury cut glass. After a few years, he added the most demanding glass refining technique - engraving and, marginally, sandblasting glass and glass jewellery.

Throughout the company's existence, all production has been characterised by the highest quality of workmanship, and in addition to proven decors and themes, it has been dedicated to progress within the techniques used. Absolute craftsmanship in the field, artistic sensibility and the ability to innovate are the fundamental prerequisites for all employees to create and achieve the desired results. Cultivating a friendly atmosphere is also an important element in the company, which contributes greatly to the successful completion of all assignments.

The long family tradition in the industry is now continued by Mr. Jiří Šafránek's grandson, Mr. Radek Vavřač, a graduate of the Secondary School of Glassmaking in Železný Brod, who took over the management of the company in 2013.
