More than a century has passed since Franz Detlef Goebel and his son William founded F.& W. Goebel on January 30, 1871. The first factory, at the base of Coburg Castle in Thueringen, Germany, became the cornerstone of W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik, as the firm is known today. At the beginning, the company produced utility china tableware, but the 20th century began a new era and F.& W. Goebel Company contributed to it by introducing porcelain figurines. This was the firm's first step in its climb to international fame. The company concentrated on the export market, so one of the largest markets for the firm has been, and is today, the U.S.A. The new owner generations expand the Goebel collections by introduction of many unusual items. Starting in 1929, great strides were made to incorporate technical improvements and expand the production facilities of the company. The manufacture of fine earthenware products, including figurines, began. In 1935, the three-dimensional adaptations of Sister M.I Hummels's sketches were introduced. Now the charming handcrafted "M.I.Hummel" figurines are cherished proudly by an ever-growing community of devoted collectors throughout the world. The distinctive Trademarks "Goebel" and "M.I.Hummel" are internationally respected symbols of value in the porcelain figurine trade around the world. But the today's motto for the company is "Linked to the past - prepared for today - shaping the future". Following this motto, W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik prepared an exceptional line of porcelain decorative items - a superb selection of vases, plates and boxes decorated with pictures of famous painters. The ghost of the past, to produce unusual items, is still present in the firm. Also today, the company is introducing to the market porcelain objects designed by modern and creative painters and photographers. The tradition of earthenware figurines let W. Goebel company expand the production by a charming colorful Angel collection, as a beautiful decoration for table and home in the most precious time of a year. To round the production profile of W. Gobel Porzellanfabrik, it is necessary to mention other figurines as they are porcelain Cats, Dogs and Birds or Easter Bunnies and also a collection of decorative glass items following the trends of modern designs.
